TAFELSPPITZ A FAVOURITE DISH OF HIS MAGESTY, THE EMPEROR!

Tafelspitz is a Viennese delicacy for true gourmets. It was always a must on the Emperor’s table during the Habsburgs’ reign. Emporer Franz Joseph I simply adored the delicious piece of rump beef boiled in a simple broth with vegetables. Today, Tafelspitz – a traditional dish of the Empire – is regarded as the national dish of Austria. The dish has several specific qualities perceptible only to devoted gourmets. It is prepared from a specific cut of beef rump and is characterized by the pointed shape of the cut. At Zylinder, you can choose to have your Tafelspitz made with two types of beef. In accordance with tradition, it is served in a copper pot with root vegetables, apple horseradish, spinach and potatoes.
